Conversations with Strangers feat. Sohee Jun

being an empath, sometimes, i feel people before i ever meet them. and when the person i feel is also an empath, it is almost impossible not to feel them. this is what happened with Sohee Jun. A stranger who appeared on my show had me on his podcast and then he had Sohee on his podcast too and he wrote both of us saying, i think you should meet each other. so when i invited her on Conversations With Strangers and she accepted i was happy. i have no idea how things like this happen, but without seeing her, talking to her, checking her out on social media, i started to feel her.

normally i don’t like to make contact with people before they come not the room, but i felt like i already had made contact because of how strongly i felt her and so i reached out to her and friended her on facebook. but that was really all that happened. a couple of messages about timing for the show and finding a good time to record. but that was it. and yet, when she came into the zoom room, i felt like had already known her, missing of course all of the details.

when i asked her, what was the 1 thing she would say to the world if she knew it was listening, here is what she told me: “Your great contribution in this world is your authentic presence and ability to make people feel heard, seen and valued.” those words could have come word by word from my mouth as well.

clearly we were connected. i think you will want to listen to this conversation. it was real, intimate, deep and vulnerable. i loved it and hope you will too . . .

here is what we spoke about:

  • the honor we both felt in being here in this room together
  • being the mother of 3 amazing children and working with high achieving individuals in business and corporations
  • the differing day to day reality to the answer of the question how are you doing
  • being a resilient woman and feeling tired and weary
  • what is it about this situation that is making her tired
  • where do we get connection in a time of forced isolation
  • the social media life shot vs the life shot of day to day life
  • the feeling of having to be a superwoman to handle all of the things in front of her
  • the silo of like minded people and thoughts and the need for innovation
  • what is the perfect 20:20 vision of the world of the year 2020
  • the desire to escape pain and the challenge of coved and the absence of the buffers we normally use to escape the pain we experience
  • what if it wasn’t as hard as we thought it was?
  • the story of elisa, my developmentally delayed daughter
  • what are the situations of life trying to say to her . . .
  • its ok, you don’t have to do more
  • being easier on yourself
  • how is it possible that someone i never met could feel exactly what i feel
  • the cardboard version of ourselves and vulnerability and going deep
  • the innovation workshop story and what it would take to change what we are doing on a dime
  • the re-starting of people and the reframing of concepts
  • how important it is to have meaningful community.
  • the ability to feel the energy of others and the feeling in the head that prevents that
  • returning to the basics of breathing, meditation and journaling and focusing on others rather than being stuck ourselves.
  • helping others and helping ourselves who do we we focus on
  • failure and what if it wasn’t possible to fail?
  • and a whole lot more . . .

Conversations with Strangers feat. Josh Gryniewicz

By Conversations

Conversations with Strangers feat. Josh Gryniewicz

you know you are in for something when 2 storytellers get together for a conversation. i knew nothing about Josh except that someone i met on a podcast recommended that we speak together, so instead of doing that in private, we had the conversation and filmed it for this series. it is so interesting to talk about the power of storytelling both in its ability to change perspectives and in its ability to lock us into realities that are not real but just stories we tell ourselves over and over again until they appear real. as we sit together some of each of those stories emerge. i think you will love listening to this conversation . . .

here is what we spoke about:

  • who Josh is.
  • storytelling for social change
  • growing up with parents who are artists and storytellers
  • family trips of trying to find Big Foot
  • the science of storytelling and what it revealed
  • the difference between the storytelling i use and simply telling a story
  • the biggest surprise he has had, finding his perfect job, creating an amazing presentation and then not getting the job.
  • watching the story that has been told in his life repeat itself but only this time the players of the story changed sides.
  • the work he did with many different public health organisations
  • the change of perspective and the shift from what he does to who he is and you can feel his whole energy change
  • how interesting it was to me that a storyteller could wrap his conversation in his story allowing him to escape the telling of his own story and how difficult it is to get to the story and the stories that come up that seem like his story but really aren’t
  • explaining the ADD mind and how it works
  • the introduction of the idea that “Nothing is as it Seems” and its ability to change the narrative of the story we are telling ourselves.
  • the old hag and the socialite and his diagnosis of ADD
  • getting nervous and feeling pushed and liking it
  • the story of the mirror maker
  • what scares him about telling the stories of others
  • the power of story to distort story
  • finding the courage to fall in love with his own story
  • and a whole lot more . . .

This is the publication that he mentioned (https://www.allindata.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/PUBLICATION-FINAL-SEPT-30th-1.pdf). It is mostly for epidemiologists and data wonks, so a little inside baseball, but a week after he published the Digital Edition, he attended the Society for Professional Journalists Conference and they listed 4 of the stories he covered as underrepresented for 2020 (so if he could scoop the New York Times, he’s got to be doing something, right 😜).

Conversations with Strangers feat. Andrea Albright

By Conversations
Conversations with Strangers feat. Andrea Albright
It’s early morning in Rome. In two hours, she would be producing a video for a tour company and broadcasting to her hundreds of thousands of followers. she checked her email.
There it was. The email that changed the course of her life. It’s from her husband. Andréa, I wanted you to hear it from me first. I’m in love with your bridesmaid.
she didn’t remember the next moment. she blacked out. The most heart-wrenching blow of her life right before she had to be on camera. she did remember throwing herself on the bed and screaming into the pillow, “Why God?! Why now?” Then astonishingly, a clear answer came to her instantly from somewhere beyond her pain, “Because you can.”
you can read the rest of her story at: https://www.andreaalbright.com/about-andrea-albright/
Andréa Albright is on a mission to create the next movement for authors and evolve the publishing industry. She is not just a publisher, she is a Legacy Maker. Andréa’s first movement took the health and fitness industry by storm. She amassed over 10,000,000+ views on YouTube, was featured on the Women’s Health and Fitness magazine cover, and grew her health business to over 100,000 raving fans. Since then, she has become the author of 25 books, reaching tens of millions worldwide in over 40 countries.
Now, she has taken her passion for helping authors find the same success by publishing books with meaning. She is recognized as The Thought Leader Publisher.
but, i didn’t know any of this when Andrea and i started speaking. the was just another stranger that had wandered into my room. my first impressions when i saw andrea was of someone who was a little bit full of themselves, because out of character, i went to her website and watched a couple of her videos but i can’t tell you how wrong my first impressions were in the presence of who she is now . i believe this is an important conversation for you to hear.
here is what we spoke about:
the journey we are on to discovery parts of ourselves that are hidden what about her has remained hidden that she would like to come out from
what she wanted to still share – that she has run from pain and now she is ready to let go of expectations letting go and achieving more
how quickly andrea became open, honest and vulnerable
what would happen if you didn’t hide from your pain
the path of her being an entrepreneur
meeting the man that checked all the boxes very successful in all of her dreams and being at the top of her game but not realising her husband was envious of her and losing it all
from a 5 story mansion in malibu to living with mom in a bunk bed in a spare room hearing the message, “you have to share more” humility and alignment to service with others
what it feels like to have her success be the reason the man she loves leaves her
thinking there was something wrong with her when it was the insecurity of her husband who cheated on her with her best friend now she helps woman own their own value so they will never have to experience this type of betrayal
what did the pain you experienced want to say to you?
what would you say to a woman who wants to jump in to being themselves but doesn’t want to lose her marriage?
making more time for laughter and not having to have all the accoutrements of life to make her feel ok
when we experience pain and then protect ourselves in the silo’s that protect us, how did she bring that silo down?
the death of the fantasy that opened up her life to do what is real if this was the last day, did i fulfil my purpose here
seeing her growth through the videos she has made
what makes her happy
and a whole lot more . . .

Conversations with Strangers feat. Lilith Moon

By Conversations
Conversations with Strangers feat. Lilith Moon
Lilith Moon is a modern day shaman, holistic business coach and the creator of Shamanic Yoga. She combines yoga, shamanism and holistic business coaching to help aspiring healers go all the way from accelerating their own healing journey to training as shamanic healers and creating their soulful, successful healing businesses.
When she isn’t busy creating, coaching or healing, she spends playful time with her 4 year old son Lou, who she shares a love of nature, singing, dancing and horse back riding with. They have a home base in Austria, spend the summers in the eco village Findhorn in Scotland and the winters in Ubud, Bali.
but, i didn’t know any of this when Lilith and i started speaking. i take that back, i think i knew she called herself a modern day shaman. and as she sat in the zoom room with me i could feel her. she had gone through a lot and was now on the other side helping others. for her The Shamantic Path was her key.
i think you will like hearing this conversation.
here is the one thing she wants to share with the world: – “Learn shamanic journeying. It is your birthright to understand yourself and all of life from an energetic perspective, so that you can know and love yourself deeply and embrace your soul purpose to serve others in profound ways while you live an abundant, fulfilled life.”
here is what we spoke about:
“i am half earth and half sky”
one of the fundamental realities of shamanism the tree of life and the chakras
the happiness of an epic sword fight with her son
traveling and seeing new realities
happiness is inside us and feeling the world around us
the way things happen and how to hear the messages that are out there
calling the energy in and getting answers even when those answers are not exactly what we want
the place where it all starts vs what we learn as we grow up
why she did not find her solution and how shamanism opened her up
diving into the peace of yoga deeply but not finding answers to her questions
a train ride, a healing, a voice that she heard in her head and an initiation that came in the cold of the mountains
the search for a teacher and finding a student who would teach her shamanism
what allows her to be open inner knowing and hearing the inner calling and knowing it is true
boundaries, borders, being a snob and ordinary people
clarifying a point that would have been left unclassified
knowing who it is we can help and not trying to help everyone vertical and horizontal realities and what the heck that even means holding space and what creates healing
and a whole lot more . . .
you will want to listen to this conversation !!!!!!

Conversations with Strangers feat. LaToya Ebony

Conversations with Strangers feat. LaToya Ebony
Originally raised in Upstate New York, LaToya is a NBC Star Project winner for best female actress, an award given at the American Black Film Festival. She has earned a BFA in theater at Buffalo State College, MFA in acting at the University of South Carolina, and worked as an acting intern at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
In her spare time, she works as a freelance makeup artist and a Youtube video content creator. Her content and bubbly personality has garnered over 2.5 million views.
She made her television premiere on the hit soap opera, Days of Our Lives, and is residing in Los Angeles, CA
but i knew none of this when she came into the zoom room. all i did know is that she and her husband JQ Sirls both signed up for a conversation and when i and just finished a conversation what her husband when she came into the room. i could tell from her energy, she was vivacious and alive and that this was a woman who has energy and knows where she is headed.
turns out she heard about conversations from a friend of hers who came into the room and spoke with me and she recommended that the two of them talk to me. i received them as i do everyone who comes into the room, with an excitement to meet a stranger.
when she came into the room i felt a comfort and wanted to share something about myself when the show first started. there is something comforting about Latoya and the strength that she has inside her that brings comfort.
she told me before we started that the one thing she would say if she knew the world was listening wild be this: Grey areas in life are so much more common than black and white ones. Perspective, experience, and upbringing color human interaction everyday and though we are all unique and may not always agree, empathy goes a very long way toward the goal of living in harmony.
here is what we spoke about:
today being a good day and what makes a good day, a good day? being an introvert with extrovert tendencies
finding time to be with herself and what happens when she doesn’t get it
the beauty of talking a walk
does it really take X amount of time to get to know a stranger
her two layers of things that make her happy
watching people in public places when they think they are private and becoming an actress
why legacy is so important to her and the desire to live beyond herself
the long road of life and knowing what is happening in life right now isn’t it
getting through the hard times;
having something inside her that was special
always feeling that the belief that “this would have never happened without . . .” could that thought be untrue?
do you have to go through pain to find happiness?
the workshop we did in jamaica and the trust exercise
do people listen and why people listen but not hear each other? the challenge is when i am heard what is the right answer?
after we are heard, then what?
for some it is not enough to be heard, some people want once you hear what they said want you to be agreed with them.
being goal oriented,
i get that you hear me, now what are we going to do?
what if their was no longer my way or your way, but a new way, our way?
compromise vs innovation
the need for therapist to help 2 parties see something new, and the excitement of doing something new.
what if the stories we tell ourselves were to change
and a whole lot more . . .

Conversations with Strangers feat. JQ Sirls

By Conversations
Conversations with Strangers feat. JQ Sirls
you can tell a lot about a person by the way they show up. sometimes the things we see are right, sometimes they are completely wrong. but these first impressions linger and they have actually been the nature of what i have been trying to overcome, because so often, my first impressions which are really quite good, also guide me in a direction that is not true. i have to tell you, this time, my first impressions were my friend.
i liked JQ the moment i saw him. he presents in a beautiful manner, not just in the fact that he is a good looking man, but also in the way he creates the environment around him, everything about him had the touch of an artist, and you can even tell from the colouring of the room behind him, the bright orange hat and the rich color of his skin, he has a way about him that is the way of an artist. and low and behold when we spoke he told me he is an artist. but what i could never see until i listened to him was all the other stuff that he has carried with him.
here is what we spoke about:
walking into our conversation without any expectations
and allowing these moment to take our character higher
being present without expectation
getting caught up in make believe
the difference how a cold and an adult do that
the belief in make up stories
who are we to control what happens after we give
reminding ourselves to be kids again
a beautiful poem
the practice of being a child
his cousins who baby-sat him and what he saw in his father
trying to remind my dad what a child really cares about
and being him and do the same with other people
the beauty and calm of design
understanding what a dad is, because i didn’t have my dad close to me growing up
the togetherness of new situations
the fantasy of what he create if money wasn’t important
the joy of giving people a moment to experience the childlikeness in each other
does he feel the world listens, how he feels we listen
and does he feel listened to?
growing up gifted with talent, considered a prodigy and how he felt
can he be seen not as a prodigy but as a man who s angry and hurt
people labelled him and made him what they wanted him to be
he just wants to be seen as he is
people want him to be something he is not,
but he has always been who he and he is that all the time
and wants to be accepted for who he is
hear what he has wanted to say all these years and never was able to say
i appreciate all you want for me, but please just accept me for who i am
and a whole lot more . . .
you have to listen to this conversation,
it is so real and raw and so intimate.
take the time to listen to what JQ has to say, i am sure it will resonate.

Conversations with Strangers feat. Eve Howlett

By Conversations
Conversations with Strangers feat. Eve Howlett
strangers, first impressions and agenda less conversation. all of this was present in my conversation with Eve. she responded to a post i posted in a podcasting group saying that she wanted to have a conversation with a stranger. and so i was more than happy to have her come into my zoom room and see where things would go.
first of all, i love that she is in Liverpool, England. home of The Beatles and though she doesn’t have the Liverpool accent, she seems to have the Liverpool accent to me.
as you have seen from many of my previous posts, first impressions give us certain information for sure, but all too often that information is not true. in this case, i will let you decide for yourself what is true and what is not. you have to watch this and see.
here is what we spoke about:
dressing up in costume or being entirely naked-what that means
being a life model
the origin of starting cabaret shows
finding a way to make $ from doing what she loves
loving getting attention and why she loves having eyes on her how do you make peace with you desire for attention
listen to what makes her happy and see if you can relate
why she feels she has to impress people
feeling not enough
as soon as she did this, all the bad stuff stopped, find out what that is
a revelation around how to be when you don’t fit in.
self acceptance and searching for external gratification
learning how to put herself first and the reveal for her of lockdown
the tendency to please other people and put ourselves last
the trick she discovered to having more energy
a short discussion on receiving, relaxing and doing things for herself
the story of The Trashman from The Mosaic
fitting in, tribal instinct and being alone
listen in to see what she is scared of and what excites her
and a whole lot more . . .
you will want to hear this podcast. it is so nice to meet someone who is not like me and to see how beautifully connected we actually are.

Conversations with Strangers feat. Wandalyn Tan-Calupig
i have no idea how Wandalyn came into my room, i think she was the friend of another stranger and she saw the post of her friends show and made a kind comment, so i invited her to come into this room to get to know her too.
as you listen you will hear, Wandalyn was excited and nervous to be here. she doesn’t usually browse facebook much and even almost never sees a video posted and watches it first thing in the morning before even getting up.
she was able to feel my pain and she sent me the kindest note without even knowing me, she wanted to share with me the beauty of the guidance she received.
ah . . the beauty of empath meeting empath
here is what we spoke about:
taking on other peoples pain
the process of surrender the trashman, the trashcan and feeling people’s pain
the loss of her father and the direct line of faith that led her to make god her father
what no means to God
getting real with trust
leaving corporate and stay at home depression
planning and control and surrender
goal setting and life visioning
what does god want to give birth through me
the power of experience to reinforce surrender
the gift, self doubt and the trust in god
stories we create and how we are today
creating a life that is working and having to give it up becasue things fall apart around me
her dream of creating “the working mom academy”
a feeling i was having during our conversation of a conflict within her
our desire to do what we know we have to do and how it can blocks us from receiving what the divine wants to give us letting go of what we see to allow what we don’t see in
my will vs. god’s will
and a whole lot more . . .

Conversations with Strangers feat. Dina Ziskin-Fortune

By Conversations
Conversations with Strangers feat. Dina Ziskin-Fortune
to be completely transparent, Dina was not a total stranger. when i was going to be traveling round the world, Dina has invited me to come to her town and stay for a night or two in her home and perhaps even bring together a group of people for a presentation. so kind of her. i had met her through a mutual “friend” and so when she signed up for the show, i thought initially, she is not a stranger and so i can’t have her on the show. but as i thought about it, really did not know anything about her, so i decided why not? of course she can be on the show.
Dina is a talented artist. and like many artists, she seems more comfortable in front of a canvas than in front of people. She is a little bit awkward, a little bit goofy and a whole lot of herself. buried underneath there is a depth to her that comes out in this conversation. i hope you will sit with me as i sit with her to get to know Dina Ziskin-Fort. i hope you will be touched as i was just listening to the purity of who Dina is.
here is what we spoke about:
the contagiousness of the energy of this room and how people can come and draw from this energy
the beautiful simplicity of really caring about the answer to the question, “how are you?”
when how are you is no longer a salutation but a question of concern to gather information.
the fluidity of experiencing the world as an empath; as a feeler what changes to make one moment become different than the one before
whose feelings am i feeling anyway? is this feeling mine or someone else’s
the perfection syndrome l
iving life with purpose
why is it so important to impact people?
and what it means to Dina
does the desire to impact people sometimes get in the way of actually impacting people
how words get in the way and how you say/hear something and i say/hear something can be entirely different.
how good it feels to have people tell you how much your work touched them
how beautifully simply she expresses the magic in letting go of judgement and self criticism
hear what makes her happy
do people hear when they listen?
what would it take for people to hear?
having the feeling of presence and transferring it through life the giving and receiving of listening
the greatest thing she has learned from listening
and a whole lot more . . . .
i was touched by the beauty of Dina’s simplicity. the wisdom she shares can be so easily overlooked until you feel her kindness and listen to her purity

Conversations with Strangers feat. Jannelle Gordon

By Conversations
Conversations with Strangers feat. Jannelle Gordon
one of the reasons i like having these conversations with strangers is because of what happened in this conversation. Jennelle responded to a post i put out asking if there was anyone who wanted to have a conversation with a stranger. we set up a time and unfortunately her calendar entered the day and time incorrectly, so i sat waiting for her and then reconciled that the meeting was not going to happen. c’est la vie.
but she then reached out to me and explained and asked if we could reschedule and i said of course.
Janelle’s life story is one YOU MUST HEAR.
i would love to say more but i want you to listen to our conversation and hear how her story emerges and even more than that how Janelle rebuilds her life as a way to contribute back to woman still stuck in the life she led.
here is what we spoke about:
taking on the karma of other people
the mixed feelings we as empaths feel
the demystifying of the myth that it take a while to get to know each other
shaking the shame of sexuality helping people open up admist the fear of covid 19 a life where she experienced almost every type of sexual trauma the experience of sexual shame an almost unbearable unbelievable upbringing sexually trafficked what comes out after asking how are you for a second time how tony robbins helped her save her life the moment of clarity that came from a question a stripper asked her abandonment and why am i not good enough how much she wanted to be loved and to please the man who the moment she faked her death, didn’t even come looking for her realizing she was completely disposable healing in thailand where have we sold ourselves to be loved becasue we want the love from someone so much listen to her answer to what makes her happy from the dogma of a religious community to the club where she could only do things she was told to do to creating her own meaning how tony robbins reached out to her and possibly even saved her life the fact that someone so affluent cared and responded to me really touched me what changed in her when he believed in her doing the impossible and just continuing to do it
watching people become authentic looking into the face of their shadows
sitting with self
nothing is as it seems
judgement of self
how she changed her mindset and created everything around her
from worthlessness to invincibility
how people see me
how she portrays herself
the marketing of her vs what she was conditioned to be
do she want people to be uncomfortable around her by sharing content that is uncomfortable and wanting to prove people wrong.
what is it about this experience that allows her in this moment to show up as herself.
the pressure she puts on herself to give her son a better life than she had
undoing how she grew up and reading it for him
and a whole lot more . . . . .
